Biography
My Love for Technology
My love for technology began at an early age when my father brought home our first computer in 1983, the Commodore 64. What an amazing piece of technology. I enjoyed writing simple programs and playing video games. From there I wanted to learn more and more. What was even more impressive is when my dad and I called using a modem to talk with another one of my friends...I thought it was so cool. Now with programs like Skype and Adobe Connect...it was really lame.
Professional Life
The moment I graduated from high school I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Therefore I combined my love for teaching and enthusiasm for science and earned a Bachelor degree from San Diego State University in Biological Sciences in 1998. The following year I completed my single subject credential in Biology and Chemistry. I started my first teaching job in 1999 with Concord High School and have since taught at three other comprehensive high schools in San Diego County and Illinois (La Costa Canyon High School, Pekin Community High School, and Canyon Crest Academy). I have taught a number of subjects, but have always managed to integrate technology in each class.
For the 2009-2010 academic year I have implemented the use of Blackboard. Blackboard is an online data management tool for students to use. It contains notes, handouts, worksheets, links to various other science sites, flash animations, and formative assessments. This gives students the opportunity to see an online format for a course before they enter college.
Personal Life
I have a beautiful wife, Dawn and terrific daughter named Tabitha. Tabitha started her first official year in school as a kindergartener and she is loving it. My wife is a special education administrator, so Tabitha gets all the best from the education world from her parents.
When I am not hanging out with my family I enjoy going to the gym, playing volleyball, and occasionally getting out on my road bike to ride along the Pacific coastline.
