Dear Parents at Canyon Crest Academy,

I look forward to meeting you and your son or daughter this year in my Chemistry class at Canyon Crest Academy. I hope to see you all at Open House which will be on February 8, 2012!

The site contains many important resources for you as a parent. It is your gateway to information about what your son or daughter will be learning through out the school year. Not only will it allow you to see their progress, see the topics discussed in class, and give you strategies to help your student be successful in Chemistry.

Although my focus is for every student to learn Chemistry, I especially want students to learn how to become independent life-long learners. We will explore how to read complex scientific textbooks, take effective notes, and learn different strategies to study for quizzes and exams. These are the skills which allow students to be successful in college and other core classes here at Canyon Crest Academy.

To further expose students to the course content I will be using a learning management system called Blackboard. This online tool will give your son or daughter access to notes discussed in class, online quizzes, guided practice (homework), schedule, and much more. I believe these resources will create an opportunity for success if all the material is at the students disposal.
